JAMB Warned Candidates Against Using Awaiting Results

Candidates waiting for their O’level results will no longer be offered or recommended for admission by any institution effective from this year (2017), Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said. The board also said it has concluded all restructuring and reforms and is now ready to begin sales of its application document in March. The organization in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja by its Head of Information, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, said the restructuring is to expand the opportunities available to candidates as almost all the public universities do not consider candidates on the second choice list because they hardly exhaust their first choice. JAMB said it took the decision because it found out that many institutions had offered candidates admission in the past on merit only for them to discover that such candidates do not have qualified O’level results for the admission and had to delete and start the process all over again. FG Appoint New Provost's In FCE Obudu And FCE Kastina Respectively

The President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Dr. James Bassey Ejue as the new Provost of Federal College of Education Obudu, Cross River State. The President also appointment Dr. Aliyu Idris Funtua as Provost of Federal College of Education, Katsina, Katsina state. The appointments, according to the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, take effect from August 19. The appointments are for four years subject to renewal for another term. Adamu, who announced the appointments in a statement issued by the ministry’s Deputy Director (Press), Ben Bem-Goong, said the conditions of service, including remunerations and fringe benefits shall be as approved for Provosts in Federal Colleges of Education in Nigeria. Dr. Ejue, 52 holds a Doctorate Degree in Guidance and Counselling from the University of Calabar. Until this appointment, he was the Provost of the Cross River State College of Education,Akamkpa. Abia Exco approved ABSU Reduction Of School Fees And Relocation Of Law Faculties/Humanities to Umuahia

The Abia State Executive Council has approved #10,000 reduction of the Abia State University (ABSU) school fees for Abia indigenes in ABSU. Also approved is the immediate relocation of the Faculties of Law and Humanities to Umuahia while Faculty of Engineering is to be relocated to Aba. The Commissioner for Information, Culture and Strategy, Comrade Bonnie Iwuoha disclosed these while addressing journalists after this week’s EXCO meeting. The Commissioner informed that the reduction in school fees was to encourage poor and needy Abia indigenes to go to school,adding that each student from Abia would prove his identity by presentation of tax receipts of their parents or guidance and biometrically. CU Graduate Emerged Best Engineering Student

Covenant University, African Private University of the Year, has received another feather of glory with Abiola Samuel Oluwaseyi, a graduate of the university, emerging the Best Engineering Graduate of the Year in the 2016 COREN (Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria) Assembly competition featuring graduates of engineering programmes from all Nigerian universities. Abiola, who only in June 2016 graduated from the Civil Engineering Department of Covenant University with a 4.90 CGPA, was declared the best among competitors from private universities at the competition held from August 8-10, 2016. The best result among the competitors from Federal Government-owned universities at the competition was 4.87 CGPA, while the most outstanding result among the State-owned varsities was also 4.87 CGPA, with the owners of both results studying Electrical Engineering. At the end of the 2015/2016 Session inventory of all the Halls of Residence in the University were taken. Some of the rooms allocated to the under listed Students were badly damaged.
